Huddersfield Town Football Club have announced Stan Ternent and Ronnie Jepson as their new management team.
Ternent, the 61-year-old former Bury, Burnley and Gillingham boss has signed a 3 year deal and will be joined in a management team by former Town striker and Club favourite Ronnie Jepson, who played under Ternent at Bury and Burnley and was his assistant at Gillingham.
Ternent, widely respected in football and currently employed as assistant manager at Derby County, was sought out by Huddersfield Town for his experience in League One. His two promotions from League One with Bury and Burnley are, according to Chairman Ken Davy, the main reason the Board of Directors made appointment:
"Stan is very experienced and his pedigree at this level speaks for itself. For our Centenary we were determined to appoint someone with a successful record in the third tier of English football and his promotions to the second tier with Bury and Burnley meant that he stood head and shoulders above the other applicants.
"As well as having been there and done it, he has all the necessary qualifications and credentials to take Town to the next level. He is widely respected in the football world and having discussed the appointment with some of the best known characters in football we knew we were making the right choice.
"We obtained permission to speak to Stan, who up until Friday was assistant manager to Paul Jewell. He requested that he was released from his lucrative contract at Pride Park to join Town, clearly demonstrating his passionate desire to be part of this great Club at this exciting time.
"As for Ronnie Jepson, his desire to be at Huddersfield Town was obvious when he applied for the managerial role. His relationship with the Club stretches back over a decade and having previously played for and worked with Stan at Bury, Burnley and Gillingham, all parties are convinced there is no one better for him to team up with that Stan.
"Our ultimate aim next season is promotion to the Championship and Stan has all the necessary traits. He is a well known disciplinarian, which is one of the important qualities we looked for in this appointment. He also has a good record of bringing through players and will embrace Gerry Murphy's principle of developing our stars for the future."
