LOAN WATCH - LUCAS AKINS

Posted on: Mon 03 Dec 2007

htafc.com caught up with Town's Chief Scout Brian Young this morning to find out how Lucas Akins performed in the second game of his loan spell at Northwich Victoria on Saturday.

Former Chesterfield striker Ernie Moss was at the Marston Road ground to watch Town's 18-year old striker (pictured) in the 0-0 draw at fellow Blue Square Premier strugglers Stafford Rangers this weekend and Young told the official website about the game and the views of Moss.

"The game finished 0-0 and it was what you might expect from two sides down at the bottom of the League; it was scrappy and neither wanted to gift the other side the game," Young explained.

"The weather conditions were horrible too, but Lucas worked really hard throughout. He didn't get any real chances in the game, but Ernie was impressed with his work-rate and it's always good to get a striker's point of view on him."

Moss is amongst the top twenty record appearance holders in Football League history, having amassed 749 games in a career spanning over 20 years.

"He's got two 90-minutes under his belt now and it will be good for him to experience life at Northwich, who are currently bottom of their League."

The Trickies now face a tough home game against 11th-placed Oxford United on Saturday, where a representative from Town will be in attendance. Check htafc.com on Monday to see how Lucas gets on!
