RITCHIE GETS HIS MAN - PHIL JEVONS
Andy Ritchie finally got his man minutes before the 5pm loan deadline this afternoon when he brought Bristol City striker Phil Jevons to the Galpharm Stadium on loan.
The 28-year former Yeovil Town hitman joins Town until December 22nd, with the standard recall clause kicking in when the first 28 days of the loan are completed, and goes straight into Ritchie's squad for this weekend's tough game with 2nd-placed Leyton Orient at the Galpharm Stadium.
A delighted Ritchie talked to the official website this afternoon following the capture of the proven goalscorer that he had talked about - Jevons having netted 88 career goals in 203 starts.
"As everyone knows, we have been chasing a player (Phil) for quite a few weeks now and we've finally managed to get him here. We've said that there's a bit of a void in the striking department as it would have been remiss to put the onus on Lucas (Akins) if we'd suffered a few injuries and Phil fills that void.
"He's scored a lot of goals wherever he's been and we're all very pleased to have him here. He's a clever play that links up well and I'm sure that he will get his fair share of goals for us."
Jevons, who takes the number 14 shirt at Town, will not be able to play in the FA Cup for Town - ruling him out of the game with Grimsby Town on December 1st.
