WALLWORK STAYING 'TIL XMAS

Posted on: Thu 22 Nov 2007

Ronnie Wallwork has delighted Town fans by extending his current loan deal until December 29th. Under the laws of the emergency loan, Ronnie can only stay a maximum of 93 days before having to return to his club. The deal was confirmed just after mid-day today, with the loan deadline for League clubs being 5pm today.

Wallwork's current deal was expected to end after Saturday's League 1 game against Leyton Orient, but Town, West Bromwich Albion and the player have agreed to extend the loan.

The midfielder has enjoyed a good spell while at the Terriers and has been an experienced head in a young team. Ronnie has currently played in ten games for Town, contributing with two goals and a man of the match performance which came against Oldham Athletic.

Terriers manager Andy Ritchie has only good words to say on Ronnie's performances this season,

"He has been an integral part of our recent push up the League and it goes without saying that I'm delighted his is staying. He has brought invaluable experience to the side and we are glad he wants to stay here. He has done exceptionally well and his experience and calmness on the pitch have done wonders for the teams confidence. With Worthy coming back and Ronnie staying it makes us a lot stronger. He seems happy here, and is enjoying his time at the club, and everyone who has seen him play will admit he has brought something to the club that was lacking before. His loan will keep him at the club until late December and after that we will be looking at deal which will keep him here until the end of the season. West Brom have been ok with everything so far, so it will be something we will definitely be looking into when the time comes."

His partnership in the centre of midfield with Andy Holdsworth has been one of the reasons Town have done so well of late, and the duo will look to keep club captain Jon Worthington on the bench as they hope to continue their great form.
