LOAN STRIKER STILL THE TARGET

Posted on: Fri 09 Nov 2007

Town boss Andy Ritchie talked to htafc.com today to give an update on his search for a loan striker.

"We're still actively looking at some targets." Andy told the official Club website. "One of those is still injured but he's been in training towards the end of this week and so it's still ongoing. I'm going to be speaking to his agent over the weekend and at the start of this week.

"We're getting good vibes about the possibility of this coming off but you can never tell with loan moves! Hopefully, we'll be able to push that forward next week."

With Town recording two impressive wins in the last week and scoring five goals in the process, fans could be forgiven for presuming that the search had eased off slightly but the Town Gaffer was adamant that this was as high a priority as ever.

"We still need another striker, as we only have three. That's no disrespect to Lucas (Akins), who could probably come in for us and do a good job, but most teams now have four recognised strikers from whom you know what you will get every week and obviously Lucas is still in development. We feel that he will eventually go on and hold down a place in our first-team but just at the minute we need a little more experience."
