MULLAN NOT OFFERED DEAL

Posted on: Wed 22 Aug 2007

Trialist Jamie Mullan, formerly of Manchester United, will not be offered a permanent deal with Huddersfield Town.

Andy Ritchie revealed that the 19-year old (pictured right), who has played in the opening two reserve games of the season, has been told today that he will not be kept on.

The Town boss explained the reasoning behind his decision to htafc.com.

"Jamie has got something about him, but he still needs to develop at this stage and it wouldn't be the right deal for the Club or the player. We need someone who can slot into the side straight away and so we won't be taking things any further."

However, Andy did reveal that he has renewed his interest in the left-sided Barnsley player Robbie Williams. As most Town fans will know, the free-kick specialist was set to sign for the Terriers before the start of the season but the deal was scuppered when he picked up a hairline fracture in his shin during his final training session with the Tykes.

"I can confirm that talks have been taking place between the two clubs", Ritchie continued. "I have never made any secret about being interested in signing Robbie, but it is crucial that the deal is right for the Club."
