Town hit four past a toothless Mansfield Town at Field Mill this afternoon to finish the pre-season calendar on a high. Goals from Beckett, Collins, Akins and Kamara gave Town another confidence boosting victory a week before the League One curtain-raiser against Yeovil.

Michael Collins had the first shot in anger within the first minute after neat play by Cadamarteri and Beckett, but the midfielder dragged his shot wide of keeper Jason White's right-hand post.

Mansfield's Stephen Dawson should have put his side in front just 30 seconds later when Mickey Boulding beat Nathan Clarke and crossed from inside the area but Dawson, who was free in the centre, could not connect with the ball which was not cleared however and Dan Martin saw his follow-up shot blocked in the area by Mirfin.

Luke Beckett thought he had scored on 9 minutes after neat link-up play between Cadamarteri and Schofield, but the assistant referee rebuffed the striker's appeal that his header from Schofield's far-post cross had crossed the line.

Malvin Kamara tried his luck from distance on 12 minutes after Collins' corner was cleared to the edge of the area, but the winger's effort skewed wide of White's left-hand post.

Former Town player John McAliskey had an excellent chance on 22 minutes when he benefited from a poor defensive header by David Mirfin, the ball looping high in the air and falling into the path of the striker who attempted to chip Glennon but did not get enough height on his effort.

In a repeat of the chance earlier in the half Mickey Boulding's strong run down the left this time beat Skarz, but again Dawson in the centre could not guide his free header on target.

GOAL - Town opened the scoring midway through the half and it was Luke Beckett who found the net after a very impressive break by Town. Cadamarteri's cross-field ball found Kamara who in turn fed the overlapping Sinclair. The right-back crossed straight onto Beckett's head and the striker planted it past White low to his right.

Stephen Dawson could have levelled the scores just a minute later but for a great one-handed save from Glennon.

Cadamarteri almost added a second for Town in spectacular style when he collected Holdsworth's touch on the edge of the area and hit a first-time half-volley which was acrobatically tipped wide by White.

Former Town defender Martin McIntosh brought the best out of Glennon on 32 minutes with a left-footed free-kick which dipped over the wall and forced the keeper into a good save low to his right.

With ten minutes of the half remaining Beckett had the ball in the back of the net again after Holdsworth slid the ball through a stationary Stags defence, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

GOAL - Michael Collins had the ball in the back of the net again on 38 minutes and this time it stood. It came from another good break from Town which again involved Cadamarteri and Sinclair; this time the right-back pulled the ball back to the edge of the area for Collins who drove the ball home into the bottom right-hand corner.

Seconds before the referee blew up for half time, Stags dangerman Boulding was unlucky to see his effort go wide after a turn and flick round Clarke.

McAliskey had the first effort on target just two minutes into the second half when he latched onto Gareth Jellyman's cross from the left flank but his header from 15 yards out was easily claimed by Glennon.

The Boulding-Dawson link-up was in effect again early in the second half when the striker played Dawson through but he fired wide.

McAliskey continued to get himself in some threatening positions and he almost headed Hamshaw's cross from the right past Glennon, but the striker could not rise high enough to get the necessary power on his header to beat the Town stopper.

There was a rare sight on 55 minutes when Beckett was caught unawares by Kamara's cross after the wingman had skinned left back Jellyman; the ball deflecting harmlessly off the striker and into the grateful arms of White.

SUB - Ritchie made his first change of the game on 58 minutes replacing Danny Cadamarteri with Lucas Akins.

The home side almost pulled a goal back when Arnold played Boulding through with a reverse ball, but the striker saw his shot saved by Glennon.

GOAL - Lucas Akins, who had only been on the field a couple of minutes, made it three on the hour mark. The striker benefited from some poor defending and slotted the ball home side-footed past the stranded White.

Glennon made another good save on 65 minutes when Boulding one-on-one good save by the legs of Glennon

SUBS - Ricthie made a triple change on 66 minutes replacing Luke Beckett with Matthew Young, Danny Schofield with Chris Brandon and Frank Sinclair with Aaron Hardy. Young went to right midfield with Kamara joining Akins in attack.

GOAL - Town added a fourth on 74 minutes and it was Kamara who atoned for a miss just minutes earlier. After a strong run down the right, Matthew Young cut the ball back to the edge of the area for Kamara whose first-time effort found its way through a crowd of bodies and was not held by keeper White who deflected the ball into his own net.

Town could have had a fifth but for some desperate defending from the home-side Young's looping shot was not cleared and Kamara and Akins both had shots blocked in the area.

SUB - Ritchie made another change on 84 minutes replacing Michael Collins with Mitchell Bailey.
