Town boss Andy Ritchie gave us his thoughts after today's pre-season friendly at Rochdale

"We are very disappointed, naturally. You cannot give two goals away like that. Matt is distraught about it, but I guess the only good thing about it was that it has happened during pre-season and not in a League game.

"They put us under pressure and put balls into areas where we should have been doing that. We did not start right and the way they started made us feel more tired, it's psychological and it's difficult to come back from. We needed to do to them what they did to us in the first 10 or 15 minutes which was turn us round. We didn't get close to them all over the pitch, we never got going and we are bitterly disappointed.

"It was a great strike from them for the first goal, but Matt's over-compensated and you can say that Matt should have done better for the second, but I am not sure the ball should have gone back in the first place. There are many things we could pick out, but we would be here until Monday.

"I thought we were marginally better in the second half and made three good chances which we could have scored, especially the excellent save from Danny's strike. Luke could have done better at the back stick for one, but it just highlights the fact that we were poor today. Hopefully that's our one bad game out of the way.

"We have done a quick appraisal and we'll work on it on Monday. I was animated at the beginning, but it wasn't a telling off, it was forceful when it needed to be. I was forceful at half time, but you make your point and I try to be more informative than ramming things down their throat. They have had their say because it's not a dictatorship, we are working together as a team. They made a few points, some of which we agreed with and we knocked a couple back. We have to know how they're feeling.

"We haven't worked a lot on tactics and team shape yet because it's just been up and at 'em, but we will do that on Monday and Tuesday and work on corners and free-kicks. The Blackburn game is great game to bounce back and we are looking forward to that now."
