Town travel to Bridlington Town on Saturday for their second pre-season game ahead of the 2007/08 campaign and htafc.com had a word with manager Andy Ritchie to get his thoughts ahead of the match.

"As with the Emley game, our main aim out of this game is to increase our fitness levels", said Andy. "Then over the next week, we'll get into the football more in training and with the two midweek friendlies at Hucknall and Bradford Park Avenue".

The traveling support is expected to be of a good size for the game and the whole of Town's first-team squad will be on display at Queensgate.

"We'll be taking the whole squad tomorrow and everybody will play a part, whereas we will probably have to take two different teams to Hucknall and Bradford Park Avenue."

The match is scheduled to take an unorthodox format of three 30-minute periods and Ritchie explained why he was in favour of this.

"If we can play three 30-minute periods, it just makes it a little bit easier to get all the lads the amount of time on the pitch that we would ideally like.

"Having said that, we're not sure that the referee will allow us to do that. Both Bridlington and ourselves want to, but if we get there and he won't allow it then that's the end of it. The referee at Emley was ok and allowed us to make a large number of changes but I remember going to Boston as Barnsley manager last pre-season and he was much stricter.

"If the ref decides this is a problem, we shall have to play the regular two 45-minute halves. I wouldn't be that bothered if that is the case, it will still be very useful for us."

So should the traveling Terriers expect a different approach than the team took in the Emley friendly?

"We're looking at two ways of playing in pre-season; we used the diamond formation (4-4-2 with a defensive and attacking central midfielder) in our behind-closed doors games at Stoke on Tuesday and switched back to a regular 4-4-2 at Emley the other night. We may well have a look at the diamond again tomorrow.

"We have to look at these different systems. Primarily, managers always have a way they like to play and I like 4-4-2, but you have to be both open and able to go to a different system. We need to get the players at ease with both, in case a change of system is required during a game, so that they know where their team-mates will be and what is expected of them in the different role. I'm not a huge fan of changing systems but we have to be able to in case we need to change a game; the players have to be both happy and educated with regards to a different formation."

The only player who looks like missing out on Saturday is long-serving striker Andy Booth. He suffered a clash of heads with an AFC Emley defender on Wednesday night and it looks like he'll be left out as a precaution.

"If Lee believes that Andy (Booth) should be left out, then that's fine with me", Andy continued. "I leave those decisions to him and I'll have a chat with him later today about Andy's availability.

"Other than Andy, everyone else is ok. Nobody has called in and 'no news is good news' on this front!"

Jack Kamara and Lee Snodin are still training with Town for the time being, but neither will feature during this weekend's game.
