FLETCH: "A TOUGH DECISION"

Posted on: Tue 10 Jul 2007

Gary Taylor-Fletcher spoke to htafc.com today about his move to Blackpool that ends his two-year stint with the Terriers.

When talking to Fletch, it became obvious that he was looking forward to the new challenges that Championship football brings but he also seemed sad to end his time with the Terriers.

"It was a really tough decision for me.", said the 26-year old. "Andy (Ritchie) told me about the interest that Blackpool had shown in me and I took a while to weigh up my options; Town have brought in a few players who can play in my positions and when I went to speak to Simon Grayson he told me I would be a first-team player.

"I've never played in the Championship before and it's something I want to do in my career. Going to Blackpool gives me that opportunity, although I would have loved it if I could be there with Town."

Fletch, who joined the Terriers in June 2005 before making 92 appearances for the Club, leaves Town fans with many good memories from his time here.

"I've loved my time at Town - I have great memories to take away with me like the goal at Chelsea and that strike against Rotherham at the Galpharm. I feel like I'm leaving there on good terms with all the staff and the fans, who I can't thank enough for all the support they have shown me."

Town fans will be hoping he doesn't hit another wonder-goal when we travel to Bloomfield Road in August for the Carling Cup First Round match! On the other hand, Fletch is hoping that his good relationship with the fans continues into this game.

"I'm looking forward to the Cup game in August, although I might not have been if I didn't get along with everyone at Town so well. Whenever I play Leyton Orient, for instance, I always get booed because I left there on weird terms but I just hope that the fans give me a good reception."
