Town are still searching for their first away win under new manager Lee Clark after a single goal defeat at Yeovil Town this evening. The game featured the Huddersfield debuts of Anthony Pilkington and Lionel Ainsworth and the former had Town's best chance to gain a point in the second half, but an added time strike in the first half from Shaun McDonald earned the Glovers all three points.

In wet and windy conditions and on a badly cut-up pitch, Clark's side tried to stick to their principles of slick passing football but despite some spells of good possession, they could not find the breakthrough that would get them back into the game.

Lee Clark's side started the game in an orthodox 4-4-2 formation, with 'keeper Smithies behind the usual back four of Williams, Butler, Nathan Clarke and skipper Holdsworth. New boy Anthony Pilkington replaced the suspended Gary Roberts on the left wing with Goodwin, Collins and Cadamarteri completing the midfield, leaving former Yeovil man Phil Jevons to partner Keigan Parker in attack.

The game kicked off in horrible conditions, with the brave Town fans being pummelled by the rainy, blustery weather at the open terraced end of Huish Park. Town, in their change strip of Gold and Black, had the majority of possession in the opening stages with debutant Pilkington going on a couple of impressive early runs.

Ex-Glover Jevons had the first effort on target in the game on the stroke of four minutes, cutting inside defender Forbes on the edge of the box before bending a shot straight into the hands of goalkeeper Wagenaar.

Cadamarteri then breezed past left-back Smith two minutes later after a clever pass from the striker, but Jevons could only nod the resulting cross harmlessly across goal at the near post.

Yeovil's new loan signing Shaun McDonald had the home side's first shot in the 7th minute after collecting a clever chest down from lively forward Rodgers and advancing with the ball, but he got his left-footed effort from 25 yards out badly wrong - spooning the ball gently into the waiting hands of Smithies.

Yeovil winger Welsh was the next player to try his luck in the 13th minute after he collected a poor clearance from Holdsworth, but he sent his low drive well wide of Smithies' left-hand post from fully 30 yards out.

Former Town favourite Danny Schofield - operating in the centre of Yeovil's midfield - then sent a 25 yards free-kick into the cheering Town fans in the 17th minute after Cadamarteri had tripped Rodgers.

After a shaky start the home side had started to string some moves together and Jim Goodwin was needed to track a good forward run from Schofield a minute later, blocking his shot behind for a corner. From the resulting set-piece, full-back Alcock headed wide at the back post.

Town hit back in the 19th minute with their own attacking move, which saw Parker and Cadamarteri combine well down the right flank; Cads' eventual cross was half-cleared by defender Forbes, but Goodwin volleyed the rebound well wide of the right-hand post.

The wet weather was making the Huish Park pitch cut up badly, but Town were still sticking to their principles and were attempting to pass the ball along the floor. As in the majority of Town's recent games, Cadamarteri was providing a great outlet down the right side - terrorising the full-back. Pilkington was impressing too - taking corners from either flank with both feet to get the desired in-swinging delivery.

A slip from Cadamarteri allowed left-back Brown to start a Yeovil break in the 26th minute and a slip from Clarke allowed Rodgers to play the ball to strike partner Prijovic in space; fortunately for Town, he sent a shot over the crossbar from the edge of the penalty area.

Left-back Smith dribbled a weak long ranger straight at the Town custodian after 32 minutes as the game entered a frustrating, scrappy period.

BOOKING - Terrell Forbes became the first player to receive a yellow card on 39 minutes after hacking down Phil Jevons from behind 25 yards out from goal.

Town had the best chance of the game so far from Robbie Williams' resulting free-kick; the defender hit the wall with his effort, but Jevons deflected the ball into the path of Andy Butler - who hit the goalkeeper with his left-footed effort 12 yards from goal. Had the centre-back managed to place the ball anywhere else, it would have put Town ahead.

Another foul by defender Forbes in the 44th minute - this time on Keigan Parker - gave Town another free-kick opportunity from an almost identical position as the last, but on this occasion Jevons placed his curling effort wide of the right-hand post.

New boy Pilkington showed good defensive awareness a minute later to charge down Yeovil midfielder Keiran Murtagh on the edge of the Town box as he looked to shoot, deflecting the effort wide of goal.

GOAL - Yeovil did take the lead in the first minute of added time through new loan signing Shaun McDonald. The resulting Yeovil corner was cleared back out to the Town left by Williams and as the ball was delivered back into the penalty area, the on-loan Swansea midfielder rushed onto the ball and fired it through a crowd of players and to the helpless Alex Smithies' left side to give his side the half-time lead.

Yeovil started the second half well and should have doubled their advantage in the 48th minute. A clever pass over the top from Schofield set the nippy Rodgers free into space down the Town right and he cut infield to pass to new loanee Prijovic inside the area, who slid the ball wide of Smithies' right-hand post when in space.

Town tried to hit back immediately and earned a free-kick near the right corner flag in the 50th minute, but Phil Jevons could only nod Pilkington's delivery wide at the near post.

The non-stop chants of 'Lee Clark's Barmy Army' from behind the goal seemed to spur the Town players on and the Terriers started to pin the home team in their own half.

SUB - Lee Clark made his first substitution in the 55th minute, giving Lionel Ainsworth his Town debut in place of Keigan Parker. This change saw the lively Cadamarteri move to the left with Pilkington partnering Jevons in attack, with the new signing in his preferred position on the right wing.

Jim Goodwin then started another attacking move in the 57th minute, passing the ball to Williams who in turn found Pilkington down the left channel; 'Pilks' breezed past right-back Alcock before delivering a deep cross, where Ainsworth climbed and placed a header inches over the crossbar.

Town created another opportunity in the 59th minute after defender Brown pushed Pilkington; from the Town man's resulting free-kick, Nathan Clarke flicked a header comfortably wide of the far post.

SUB - Yeovil made their first change a minute later - new boy Prijovic was replaced in attack by Paul Warne.

A rare Yeovil break saw substitute Warne find space behind the Town defence in the 64th minute, but he was forced wide by Clarke and could only screw a left-foot shot into the advertising hoardings behind the Town goal.

BOOKING - Town old boy Schofield was booked for a cynical trip on Anthony Pilkington as he tried to launch a Town counter-attack on the stroke of the 65th minute.

Clark tried to change things by switching Cadamarteri and Pilkington as the final twenty minutes of the game approached but it was the Glovers who went closest to scoring a second of the game in the 71st minute - Schofield latching onto a cross from Warne at the back post and only being denied a goal by a brilliant reaction save from Alex Smithies.

Town went straight up the other end and created their own great chance; Pilkington twisted and turned a Yeovil defender inside the penalty area but snatched at his shot and pulled the ball wide of goal when fifteen yards out, with Cadamarteri in a good position to strike the ball himself.

SUB - Yeovil made their second substitution in the 79th minute, replacing Andy Welsh with Nathan Jones.

SUB - Town made their own change in the same minute, replacing Jim Goodwin with Ian Craney in central midfield.

Yeovil substitute Warne had a snapshot at Smithies' goal in the 84th minute, with the ball drifting just wide of the right-hand post.

BOOKING - Substitute Ian Craney picked up his fourth booking of the season in the 89th minute after halting a Yeovil counter-attack with a sliding challenge on Luke Rodgers.

SUB - The tackle injured striker Rodgers and he was replaced in the last minute by Gavin Tomlin.

The travelling Town supporters had their heads in their hands in the fourth minute of added time when a last ditch effort from Cadamarteri squirmed just wide of the far post. Town had forced a late corner on the left side and Pilkington's deep delivery fell to the feet of Ainsworth, whose powerful low drive was going wide; Cads stuck out a leg to try and divert the ball into the goal, but it went agonisingly wide.
