The Terriers had to settle for a point at the Galpharm Stadium on a chilly October evening after a frustrating goalless draw against Yeovil Town. Stan Ternent's side enjoyed much the better of the game and created several chances against a Glovers side deploying just one striker, but impressive goalkeeper Asmir Begovic kept the Town players at bay.
Town started the game in a 4-4-2 formation, with goalkeeper Matt Glennon protected by a back four of Robbie Williams, Andy Butler, Nathan Clarke and Jim Goodwin - who was making the 225th appearance of his career on the evening. Skipper Jon Worthington took up a central midfield role alongside Ian Craney, leaving Gary Roberts and Michael Flynn to occupy the left and right wings. Up front, Keigan Parker partnered Liam Dickinson.
Visitors Yeovil were the first side to have an effort at goal as early as the 2nd minute when midfielder Murtagh turned a low left sided corner from former Town man Danny Schofield well wide of the near post.
Town fired their own effort on target two minutes later; after Keigan Parker was fouled thirty yards from goal, Flynn took a quick free-kick to set up left-back Williams, who saw his powerful drive palmed around the post by Yeovil 'keeper Begovic.
The away side moved the ball around quite well in the opening ten minutes and big defender Aaron Brown forced Matt Glennon into action with a back post header from a long free-kick; the Town custodian punching the ball to safety as striker Scott Rendell looked to nod the ball home.
Half the ground thought that Dickinson had opened the scoring on the stroke of 16 minutes when he turned a low Michael Flynn cross from the right side towards goal with his toe, but in fact the goal had hit the wrong side of the side netting as far as Town were concerned.
The giant Brown headed over the bar for Yeovil in the 20th minute from a right-sided Welsh corner, with the Town players appealing for a foul after Goodwin was felled when challenging for the header.
Town's Gary Roberts hit a rasping 22nd minute drive from 25 yards out which deflected off Ian Craney en route to goal, forcing big shot stopper Begovic to tip the ball over his own crossbar in acrobatic fashion.
Assistant Manager Ronnie Jepson was visibly urging full-backs Goodwin and Williams to push up as often as they could as the Terriers searched for an opening goal and a whipped cross from the Town right-back in the 27th minute landed on the head of Dickinson at the near post, but he could only direct his effort straight at the goalkeeper with two defenders nearby.
A good piece of quick passing between several Town players led to a half-chance for Ian Craney on the edge of the box in the next minute, but the ball would not come down quickly enough and he looped his volley into the Town fans in the Pink Link Stand, who were in good voice.
Loan striker Dickinson had shown deadly accuracy from free-kicks in recent weeks, but he could only fire an ambitious low effort from the left side of the Yeovil box into the side netting on the half hour mark.
Andy Butler went very close to opening his Town goalscoring account in the 35th minute, but was denied by an outstanding save from Begovic. Keigan Parker was fouled by Brown on the wide left and from the resulting deep Roberts free-kick, Butler rose above his marker and headed towards the far post. However, the on loan Yeovil 'keeper stuck out his right arm and deflected the ball behind for a corner.
From that corner, Dickinson's outside of the boot effort at the near post went straight at the custodian.
Town were well on top by this stage and broke excellently from an attacking free-kick for Yeovil in the 38th minute. Parker's clever flick to the left side released the pacey Roberts over halfway and he raced past three players, shooting low and hard and forcing another good stop from Begovic.
BOOKING - Yeovil striker Scott Rendell became the first player to enter referee Foster's notebook in the 42nd minute after he produced a late tackle on Nathan Clarke as he looked to shoot at goal.
From that free-kick, Dickinson hit the side netting again from fully thirty yards out.
BOOKING - Defender Aaron Brown followed his colleague into the book with a minute of the half remaining when he missed his kick and brought down Keigan Parker on the edge of his own box. It could have been argued that he denied a clear goalscoring opportunity and was lucky not to see red.
Dickinson stepped up again and this time he rattled the near post with his free-kick, with goalkeeper Begovic flat on his feet.
In the end the teams went into the interval on level terms, but Town had certainly had the better of play and would have been in the lead were it not for the excellent away goalkeeper.

SUB - Yeovil boss Russell Slade made one change during the interval, bringing on Paul Warne for Andy Welsh.
Town started in the ascendancy in the second half, but saw long range shots from Williams and Flynn deflected by the determined Yeovil defence.
Away 'keeper Begovic was required again in the 52nd minute after a right wing corner from Roberts was only half cleared and skipper Worthington returned it with interest from the edge of the box - the big goalie holding the ball at the second attempt from the volley.
Parker did well to turn defender Gareth Owen after latching onto a clever Craney through ball in the 55th minute, but once again Begovic came to the rescue and saved his low, curling shot from the edge of the box.
Yeovil had a rare opportunity after a 57th minute raid into the Town half from Schofield, who found sub Warne in the left side of the penalty area. His snapshot from an acute angle went straight into the arms of Matt Glennon.
Liam Dickinson looped a header from a decent Goodwin cross over the crossbar a minute later before Gary Roberts fired a hopeful effort way over the crossbar from the edge of the box in the 62nd minute.
SUB - Russell Slade made his second change in the 62nd minute, replacing Kieran Murtagh with Gavin Tomlin.
Ian Craney had Town's latest effort on goal in the 63rd minute, volleying Goodwin's whipped near post cross straight at Canadian Begovic.
Yeovil sub Tomlin headed a right wing cross from midfielder Darren Way over the Town crossbar in the 70th minute as the game turned scrappy.
SUB - Town made a double change in the 71st minute; Steve Jones replaced Jon Worthington and Jim Goodwin was replaced by Andy Holdsworth. Jones went straight to the right wing with Michael Flynn moving to the middle.
Dickinson had another shot on goal in the 73rd minute after a positive run from Keigan Parker was halted by defender Gareth Owen, his effort was deflected narrowly behind by the outstretched leg of a defender.
Yeovil came the closest they had to scoring two minutes later; good play down the right from that man Schofield gave him the chance to put the ball low across the box for the lively Warne, who stuffed his near post effort into the side netting.
A minute later Yeovil's Gary Roberts smashed a thirty yard free-kick straight into the arms of Matty Glennon.
The Glovers were probably having their best spell of the game, as Warne screwed a long range shot very wide of Glennon's right-hand post a minute later.
Town fought back, with substitute Jones firing similarly wide as the final ten minutes approached.
Begovic saved well to his left side again in the 79th minute after Keigan Parker found room to shoot inside the Yeovil box, hitting the ball hard and low from 15 yards out.
Michael Flynn directed a header straight at Begovic from eight yards out in the 83rd minute, rising unchallenged to meet a Williams free-kick following a foul on Nathan Clarke.
SUB - Yeovil made their final substitution in the 86th minute, bringing on Lee Peltier for big striker Scott Rendell.
Despite some direct efforts at breaking the deadlock in the game's three added minutes, the Terriers could not open the scoring and the game ended in a goalless stalemate.
