TOWN RECEIVE PRESTIGIOUS AWARD
Huddersfield Town's Football in the Community Scheme has been awarded 'Silver Status' by the Football League Trust.
The Football League Trust has awarded 31 clubs in The Football League Silver status for their Community work, with each club receiving £48,000 to invest into community activities as part of the Trust's £1.72m pledge to community schemes across the country.
Huddersfield Town's Community Scheme, managed by Sporting Pride Community Trust charity, fulfilled the assessment criteria required to achieve the award which included:
- A strong player appearance policy - to ensure players from the club make appearance at the community sessions.
- Charitable status in place - managed by Sporting Pride Community Trust, the community schemes are housed at The Zone.
Other clubs to achieve the award include Championship promotion favourites Wolverhampton Wanderers and local rivals Bradford City.
Football League Trust General Manager Dave Edmundson said: "I would like to heartily congratulate all the clubs who have achieved their Silver award.
"This is a wonderful indication of the new levels of impact and engagement that schemes are bringing to the communities they serve.
"More importantly, this demonstrates the impressive range of projects and initiatives delivered by League clubs in all four themes, and the partnerships being established in both the public and private sectors."
Edmundson added: "Overall standards are high, and there is no doubt that the Trust, along with the support of all the clubs, intend to maintain this rising trend of improvement."
The funding gained from the Football League Trust will go back into further developing Town's Community scheme, which is currently holding soccer schools both at The Zone and in the community over the Easter Holidays.
