Huddersfield Town's beloved but chunky mascot Terry the Terrier is embarking on a new challenge - to get fit!
The loveable mascot has decided to lose a few pounds and get fitter for next season to help spur the team onto victory.
Kirklees Active Leisure, which sponsor's Town's Academy, has stepped in to offer Terry a few weeks of fitness training and guidance in its gyms across Huddersfield and the Valleys.
Terry went along to KAL's Stadium Health and Fitness Club with Town Ambassador Andy Booth to start his fitness campaign today.
Instructors gave him a fitness assessment and a rigorous training programme at KAL's Stadium Health and Fitness Club.
Kathryn Woodfield, health club manager, said: "According to our body fat machine, Terry is now bordering on obese, which could affect his overall health and energy levels.
"Our fully-qualified instructors have given him a tough programme, but will be helping him on the way and reviewing his progress regularly to make sure he achieves his fitness goals.
"Terry is already working hard and particularly enjoys the new studio cycling bikes at the Stadium, which is a good way of burning calories.
"We hope our regulars enjoy encouraging him if they spot him in their gym and spur him on."
Mark Davies, Business Development Manager for Huddersfield Town FC, said: "We are excited that Terry is knuckling down and getting into shape for the next season. He will have more energy to motivate the players to success and promotion.
"Terry hopes to reveal his new slim-line look to his fans later in the summer."
