Huddersfield Town Academy goalkeeper Lloyd Allinson has been selected by the Football Association to take part in a two day 'Goalkeeper Development Course' held by England's National Goalkeeping Coach Martin Thomas during July.
The 16-year old stopper will travel to Keele University on 6 and 7 July to take part in this pilot scheme for all goalkeepers of 'international promise' or who have already represented the country at youth level.
Allinson is one of 10 goalkeepers invited to the course, with the players taking part in five separate coaching clinics hosted by former Newcastle and Bristol Rovers custodian Thomas and fellow goalkeeping coach Simon Smith throughout the two days.
Lloyd will start his two year Academy scholarship during the 2010/11 season but has already made 27 appearances for Graham Mitchell's under-18 side and made his reserve team debut last term during the 3-1 home win over Leeds United back in March 2010.
"I'm delighted that Lloyd has been asked to go on this new development course," Academy Manager Mitchell commented. "He made tremendous progress as an under-16 player last season and I hope this helps him continue his development into the new season."
Goalkeeping Coach John Vaughan works with Lloyd and the senior goalkeepers at the Club on a daily basis and expressed his delight for his young student:
"Lloyd did well last season and thoroughly deserves this chance. He has to realise that he still has a lot of hard work ahead of him, but he has done very well so far.
"I think these development courses are a very good idea; it is very hard to judge a young goalkeeper if a scout comes and watches one game and it will give the coaches a much better opportunity to assess their ability over a longer period."
