KIRKLEES ACTIVE LEISURE JOIN THE 'FAMILY'

Posted on: Mon 16 Aug 2010

Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL) has become the latest partner of Huddersfield Town after it was today announced that their logo will appear on the front of the Club's Academy shirts next season.

KAL will come on board with Town as the 'Family Partner' and on top of their financial backing of the Club's Academy, a host of family-based activities are being planned for the 2010/11 season both on matchdays and in KAL's sports centres throughout the region.

KAL manage eleven major sports centres and swimming pools across Batley, Dewsbury, the Colne Valley and Huddersfield on behalf of Kirklees Council; their vision is to get more people, more active, more often across the region.

Soccer schools will operate out of KAL's facilities next season, supported by Town's Football in the Community department and Academy coaches who will lend their expertise, whereas 'family days' are being planned for the Club's first team matchdays.

Huddersfield Town's Commercial Director Sean Jarvis commented: "It's absolutely fantastic that Kirklees Active Leisure are backing the Academy; to have the word 'Kirklees' on the front of the kids' shirts for the upcoming season will be superb and a great source of pride for the staff, players and fans.

"This new deal will allow us to spread the word about Huddersfield Town across the region through KAL's eleven centres, which fits perfectly with our ethos as 'The Yorkshire Club'.

"Kirklees Active Leisure have considerable family knowledge and as the Family Club of the Year, we share a lot of goals. I am looking forward to trading ideas and best practise with KAL moving forward."

Kirklees Active Leisure's Chief Executive, Alasdair Brown added: "We're delighted to have agreed this new partnership with Huddersfield Town. To support their important Academy programme and to be recognized as their 'Family Partner' is a great honour, especially as the Club were awarded Family Club of the Year status recently by the Football League. KAL facilities also offer something for all the family, so the link here is a very comfortable one.

"Both Huddersfield Town and KAL are positively moving forward as organisations and the 2010/11 season looks like being a very exciting one for both of us. I'm confident the new partnership will be a positive one, with benefits for our customers, the players involved in the Academy and the supporters of Huddersfield Town."
