An incredibly young Town under-18 side put in a disciplined performance against a more experienced Sunderland outfit in the latest FA Premier League game of the season at Storthes Hall this afternoon.
Graham Mitchell's side stuck to their game plan very well throughout the ninety minutes and earned a valuable clean sheet, which was particularly impressive with under-16 players Dominic Dickinson and midfielder Jordan Sinnott at centre-half.
The visitors enjoyed the lion's share of possession and hit the woodwork on two occasions, but the Terriers created their own chances through substitutes Aidan Chippendale (pictured) and Michael McCaffery. The duo were among the substitutes due to their reserve team commitments at Newcastle the previous evening, but featured in the second-half to bolster Town's attacking options; first Chippendale hit the post with a 20-yard shot and then McCaffery uncharacteristically missed the target after being played through on goal.
The game featured first starts at under-18 level for under-16 forwards Dave Melling and Josh Windass.
Town's Team (4-3-3):
Lloyd Allinson; Aidan D'Arcy, Dominic Dickinson, Jordan Sinnott, Stephen Powell; Chris Atkinson, Adam Colton, Israel Johnson; Dave Melling (Greg Pearson 80), Max Leonard (Michael McCaffery 75), Josh Windass (Aidan Chippendale 65)
