Annual ‘Town for all’ game a great success on Saturday
Huddersfield Town sent out a message of inclusion at the Sky Bet Championship game against Watford on Saturday – it’s dedicated ‘Town for all’ match.
The Club’s match day magazine, ‘Give Us An H’, included feature articles on both ‘Kick it Out’ and ‘Football v Homophobia’, organisations Huddersfield Town is a staunch supporter of.
Players from both teams proudly displayed the ‘Kick It Out’ logo on their warm up t-shirts, and scholars from the Town Academy carried a ‘Kick It Out’ banner as the teams walked out onto the pitch.
Terry the Terrier and the Town Family were out and about handing out anti-discrimination stickers and wristbands to supporters, and guest speaker Garry Mabbutt MBE discussed the importance of ‘Kick It Out’ to visitors in the Spring Partners Suite.
Huddersfield Town’s ‘Ability Counts’ team was also present at the game. The juniors involved in this programme, which is aimed at increasing the participation of disabled people in football, formed the Guard of Honour as the players entered the pitch prior to kick-off and then returned to demonstrate their skills in a training session on the pitch at half-time.

“It was great to have been able to showcase the work being done in our Club to highlight diversity and promote inclusion at the ‘Town for All’ game on Saturday.
“From Terry the Terrier and the Town Family, to our Academy scholars and First Team players from both teams, everyone involved united to demonstrate the Club’s commitment to ending all types of discrimination.”
Keeley Baptista, Professional Game Manager at ‘Kick It Out’, added:
“Huddersfield Town is always extremely supportive of our work and it was great to see the Club once again fully embrace our messages of equality and inclusion during the designated ‘Season of Action’ match.
“The match day activity Huddersfield undertakes each season only makes up a small fraction of the year-long commitment the Club shows towards promoting us and the need to eradicate all forms of discrimination.
“We wish the Terriers the best of luck for the rest of the season and look forward to continuing our ongoing work with them, and their manager Chris Powell, one of our longest-serving ambassadors.”
