BOOTHY OPENS NEW SCHOOL FACILITY

6 December 2013

Todmorden High School is new club partner

Town’s Club Ambassador Andy Booth dropped off just the thing for Todmorden High School’s new year 11 common room in late November – a new school partner plaque!

Boothy visited Todmorden to officially open its brand new year 11 common room, performing the official ribbon cutting ceremony and giving the school’s pupils a first look at their new facility to use outside lessons.

However, the main purpose of Andy’s visit was to give the school with their plaque recognising them as an official school partner of Huddersfield Town. He also held a Q&A session with the students, discussing his proud career with the Terriers, Sheffield Wednesday and England’s Under-21s.

Boothy is pictured above with students of Todmorden High School, head teacher Andrew Whitaker and football coach Paul Duerden.

Andy commented:

“It is great to team up with Todmorden High School Specialist Visual Arts College. Visiting schools is a key part of the school partnership and something I really enjoy participating in.

“The students were a credit to the school on the day. The Club is looking forward to working with the school more closely and developing the partnership.”

Since the School Partnership began in the 2011/2012 season over £17,500 has been returned to schools as part of the Schools Partnership cash-back scheme. Over 5,758 children and their families attended a home game during season 2012/13 as part of the partnership.

Club Ambassador Andy Booth and Town players make regular visits through the year to School Partners and over 600 hours of coaching were given to Schools Partners by Football in the Community qualified coaches last season.

The Scheme offer rewards to schools including lap of honour at half time, being official flag wavers as the team’s come out, receiving signed merchandise and match tickets (for pupil rewards or fundraising).
