Paul departs Huddersfield Town

Paul Dixon has today departed Town after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The Scottish international left back joined Huddersfield Town from Dundee United in 2012 and now returns to Tannadice after three and a half years in West Yorkshire.

During his time as a Terrier he made 81 starts and 11 substitute appearances for the team, but having been a First Team regular in his first three seasons he has played only 16 times this term; his last start coming way back in November, with only 6 games under Chris Powell.

Huddersfield Town Manager Chris Powell explained:

“Paul is an experienced professional and wants to play regularly, but the form of Jack Robinson has kept him out of our side. He is still out of contract in the summer.

“There has been interest from another club in recent days. Today Paul came to me and expressed a strong desire to be released, reluctantly at this stage of the season, and return to Scotland as soon as possible. He did not want to wait until the summer – and we didn’t want to stand in his way. Paul was a top professional - a dedicated players and he leaves the club with our best wishes.

“His departure gives us some more leeway to refresh the squad, and we will look to strengthen in this area in the emergency loan window.”
