Manager wants to end with a win
Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins will be telling his players to spoil Leicester City’s promotion party when they clash on Saturday.
The Foxes, who secured the Championship title in midweek, need four points to hit the 100 mark for the season, whilst Town now know they are safe for another season following the win at Yeovil.
“There is a bit of relief around the place, but we have worked hard all season,” said Mark. “There is a tendency to look on the negative side of things, but I believe that there have been a lot of positives. We have played some good football over the course of the season, but since the turn of the year we haven’t won enough games and picked up enough points.
“Overall we have had a reasonably successful season and we have a platform that we can build on for next season.
“The anxiety surrounding our position left us following the win at Yeovil and we now want to go and enjoy what is still an important game against Leicester,” Mark added. “We want to put down a marker that will leave the supporters wanting more ahead of next season.”
Leicester have lost only four times on the road and just six times in total this season and despite the close attentions of Burnley, will go up as champions following the one goal victory at Bolton.
“They deserve all the plaudits because they have been outstanding this season,” Mark said. “Right from day one they have been strong and they have some top players who haven’t let their form dip. In David Nugent upfront they have had a steady stream of goals, but they also have the likes of Jamie Vardy and Andy King.
“They have players all over the pitch that can hurt you at any given time. They kept a core of players together for a few years and they have grown as one. We want to spoil the party though, and put on a performance for the last time this season in front of our own supporters.
“Burnley have managed to do something similar in terms of players used and they too deserve all the plaudits that they are receiving.”
Danny Ward was a doubt ahead of the game following a head injury sustained against Yeovil, but Mark confirmed that the attacker is fit to take on the Foxes.
“Danny has been training and will be included in the squad. James Vaughan and Keith Southern are both out, whilst Harry Bunn picked up knock playing for the Under-21s on Wednesday.
“We have got 18 to 19 fit players ready for the weekend with some of the younger lads in and around the team. I will certainly look at the value of bringing those in who are performing to a standard where they need to step up. We will consider the options today and put a side out who will hopefully produce a good performance.”
