ROBINS ON A DRAMATIC VICTORY

11 January 2014

Boss praises match winner as Town leave it late

Mark Robins praised the quality of new signing Nahki Wells as he scored at the death to defeat Millwall.

The Club record signing scored two minutes from Town to condemn the Lions to defeat after they had done well to thwart the Terriers.

Wells’ finish left Millwall ‘keeper David Forde with no chance and Robins applauded the striker’s ability: “He provided the moment of the game and finished the chance superbly; it was a real goal scorer’s finisher.

“We are delighted to have him and I am looking forward to working with him. People used to say that I didn’t do anything apart from score goals and if he does that for me, I will be delighted.

“He is only 23 and I believe that we can enhance his potential and make him worth more than his current value. We aren’t getting carried away and we will see how it develops.”

On the match, Robins said: “We controlled the game, but our passing was a bit off. We missed a couple of chances as well and didn’t create any decent passing moves in the final third.

“Teams are defending deeper and playing on the counter attack against us, which is a real compliment.

“They caused us a few problems and hit the post in the first half, which was a wake-up call.”

The Terriers’ victory moved them to the 12th in the Championship, just five points off a Play-Off place and Robins wants his players to continue looking up.

“We are competing, which is better than what we were doing in the second half of last season,” he said. “I love watching the lads play at the moment; they are trying hard. I don’t want to sit mid-table, but at the moment that is where we are. Hopefully with Nahki’s goals and the contributions of others we can move forward.”
