Players lend support to ‘Keep It Up’ initiative
Pupils and staff from four of Town’s schools partners have successfully completed their own version of Pedal for Pounds 5, raising money for the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign in the process.
Organised by Jonathan Schofield, Leader of Learning in PE at Royds Hall School, four schools – Royds Hall, Holmfirth High, Westborough High and North Huddersfield Trust – challenged their students to gain sponsorship and cycle the equivalent of the 250 mile ride from London to Huddersfield on static bikes during PE and break times.
To support their efforts, Town’s players have been out at the schools supporting the pupils over the last fortnight.
Winger Adam Hammill joined in the fundraising effort alongside Club Ambassador Andy Booth at Royds Hall High School on Monday 31 March, while Sean Scannell visited Holmfirth High on Tuesday.
Academy graduate Duane Holmes went to Westborough High on Thursday, whereas his teammates Harry Bunn and Ed Wilczynski visited North Huddersfield Trust as its pupils started the challenge this Monday.
Three of the schools completed the challenge in three days last week, with Holmfirth High winning the competition – completing the challenge 25 minutes ahead of Royds Hall on Wednesday afternoon!
As winners, Holmfirth High has won tickets to an upcoming Huddersfield Town home game, with the top individual fundraiser from each school also receiving a ‘money can’t buy’ experience at Huddersfield Town.
This initiative follows on from one organised by Royds Hall last year, which raised £1,500 for the campaign.

Next month almost 300 cyclists – including Chairman Dean Hoyle, Commercial Director Sean Jarvis and Club Ambassador Andy Booth – will cycle 250 miles from the Emirates Stadium back to Huddersfield to raise funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity and the Huddersfield Town Academy.
