WILL BOYLE LOANED TO MACCLESFIELD

5 August 2015

Teenage defender joins Vanarama National League side

- William Boyle joins Macclesfield Town on a Youth Loan
- 19 year-old defender at the Moss Rose until 3 October 2015
- Comments from Huddersfield Town's Frankie Bunn

Huddersfield Town’s William Boyle has today completed a Youth Loan to Vanarama National League club Macclesfield Town.

The 19 year-old defender, who is primarily a centre back but can also play at left back, has joined the Silkmen until 3 October 2015.

William has been involved in Chris Powell’s First Team squad for every one of the Club’s pre-season friendlies; most recently as an unused substitute in Saturday’s defeat at Barnsley.

He made his professional debut last season, playing a few minutes as a late substitute for Harry Bunn during the 3-0 Sky Bet Championship home win over Reading in February 2015.

Boyle has also been the regular captain of Frankie Bunn’s Development Squad, having made 31 starts at Under-21 level during his first season as a professional in 2014/15.

This is William’s second loan spell, following on from two starts at fellow Vanarama National League club Kidderminster Harriers in April 2015.

Huddersfield Town’s Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn explained:

“Having played a full season with the Under-21s last year, Will has trained consistently with the First Team over the last month – including the time in Spain – and we now feel he is ready to compete at a certain level.

“Macclesfield contacted us about the player and now the move is complete it is his challenge to go there, play regularly and impress.

“He will have to adapt to the physicality of the division, for sure, with the aerial and physical challenges as everyone is scrapping for points. He will relish that challenge.

“It will be a good challenge for him; one we believe he is ready for. One of Will’s best features is his capacity to learn and work hard; he has a great attitude.”

Macclesfield Town’s First Team is managed by John Askey, while the Club’s Assistant Manager is former Town player and cult hero Efe Sodje.

Boyle’s loan is the third for a member of Town’s Development Squad ahead of the start of the 2015/16 season, following on from moves for Joe Wright to Accrington Stanley and Jake Charles to Guiseley.
