BEE HOTEL WINNERS VISIT HARLOW CARR

9 October 2015

A special day out for two local schools

- Winners of HTAFC's Bee Hotel competition
- School pupils get a trip to RHS Harlow Carr
- Comments from Town legend Andy Booth

Children from Chickenley Community JI & N and Ravenshall School enjoyed a trip to RHS Harlow Carr in Harrogate as a prize for winning Huddersfield Town’s ‘Bee Hotel Challenge’, held in association with Syngenta and the Royal Horticultural Society.

Over 100 children and staff were treated to full day’s experience around the award-winning gardens, which also included a woodland explorer’s adventure and an educational workshop. Coach travel was kindly provided by Stotts Coaches.

As part of the HTAFC School Partnership scheme with Syngenta, the Club ran a competition in local schools for children to design a bee friendly habitat where pollinating insects can feed off flowering plants – with a theme of blue and white flowers!

20 schools entered the competition and all involved will receive tickets to Huddersfield Town’s Sky Bet Championship game against Middlesbrough in November.

HTAFC Club Ambassador Andy Booth, who joined the children at Harlow Carr, commented:

“The project with Syngenta and the RHS has really enhanced our Schools Partnership scheme and I would like to thank all who made the day possible, not forgetting Stotts Coaches. If your school isn’t part of our free scheme, I’d urge you to get in touch and sign up today.”

Carl Sykes, Community Partnerships Manager at Syngenta said:

“The Bee Hotel Challenge certainly captured the imagination of the children who took part and there has been great enthusiasm for the project from the teaching staff I spoke to. It has been a great education project from start to finish.”

Libby Goodacre, RHS Regional Development Manager, added:

“It was a real pleasure to host the proud winners, Chickenley and Ravenshall, who were so excited to be at Harlow.”
