THOMPSON DEPARTS FOR LEEDS

18 December 2014

First Team Coach leaves Huddersfield Town

First Team Coach Steve Thompson has today departed Huddersfield Town to take up the role of Assistant Manager at Leeds United.

The 50 year-old, a midfielder for Bolton Wanderers and Leicester City among others during his playing days, joined Huddersfield Town in June 2014 during Mark Robins’ tenure as Manager.

Huddersfield Town’s Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens commented:

“On behalf of the Club, I would like to wish Steve all the best in his new role.

“He joined us in the summer as we reenergised the support structure beneath our Manager Mark Robins, but the circumstances at the Club changed very quickly – as can happen in football.

“Throughout the transitional period following Mark’s departure, Steve conducted himself in a very professional manner, ably assisting Caretaker Manager Mark Lillis, and has subsequently played an important role under our new Manager Chris Powell.”

Town Manager Chris Powell added:

“I’d like to thank Steve for the hard work he has put in during our time together at Huddersfield Town. Along with the other members of the technical staff, he was very helpful in the early days of my tenure. We wish him all the best for the future.”
