Huddersfield Town will play away at Shrewsbury Town in Round One of the 2016/17 EFL Cup.

The Terriers were drawn away to the Blues in Wednesday’s 1pm draw, which took place live on Facebook.

The game will be played during the week commencing 8 August 2016, with exact details to be confirmed in due course.

As a Sky Bet Championship club, Town was seeded in the regionalised draw, with Round One‘s one legged matches being decided on the evening with use of extra time and penalties if needed.

Shrewsbury Town finished 20th in Sky Bet League 1 last season and are managed by Scotsman Micky Mellon.

This game will be the first competitive meeting between the two sides since Town’s 1994/95 promotion season, whilst the two sides have met in the cup before; Shrewsbury winning over two legs back in 1985/86.

The game will also be Town's first visit to Shrewsbury's Greenhous Meadow stadium.
