Paul Clements has today been confirmed as the new Lead Academy Goalkeeping Coach at Huddersfield Town.

Paul arrives at ‘The Yorkshire Club’ from Wolverhampton Wanderers, having previously worked at Middlesbrough.

His career started in Boro’s community team back in 2005, where he developed a goalkeeping programme that acted as a link to the Club’s Academy. Paul subsequently became part of Middlesbrough’s goalkeeping department, whilst also working at international level training Tunisia’s Under-16 and Uncder-14 goalkeepers.

Paul then joined Wolves in 2012, working as a Goalkeeping Coach in the Club’s Academy for the last three seasons. As well as being a level four goalkeeping coach, Paul is also a licensed FA tutor.

In his role at Huddersfield Town, Paul will primarily focus on the Academy players in the Youth Development Phase (12-16 year olds) and Professional Development Phase (16-18 year olds).

Paul takes over the role from Ian Bennett, who departed for Nottingham Forest last month.

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager Mark Lillis commented:

“I’m delighted to welcome Paul to Huddersfield Town.

“During the process of finding someone to take up this important role, Paul quickly became the outstanding candidate.

“Alongside his very impressive work so far, he shares the passion and drive we all have at our Academy for developing young footballers.

“He’ll work closely with the Club’s Head of Goalkeeping Nick Colgan and Assistant Academy Goalkeeping Coach Tom Weal to develop individual plans for our young goalkeepers through to the First Team.”
