Jake Charles brace secures 14th straight win

- Town U21s win 14th straight game
- Jake Charles nets brace on first start since November
- Highlights on HTTV on Tuesday

A brace from forward Jake Charles secured a come-from-behind 14th straight victory for Town’s Under-21 side in the latest Professional Development League 2 North game of the season at Nottingham Forest on Monday.

An 11th minute penalty from Forest striker James Thorne had given the home side an early lead at Forest’s Wilford Lane training ground, but within 60 seconds the young Terriers responded – with Charles grabbing his fifth goal of the PDL2 campaign.

Charles then grabbed his second of the game with a rare header 12 minutes from time to secure another win for Frankie Bunn’s side, which tops the northern table.

Wales Under-21 international Jake was making his first start since 2 November due to injury and the form of fellow strikers Flo Bojaj and Rekeil Pyke, but Flo – alongside colleagues Philip Billing and Duane Holmes – were kept back at PPG Canalside with the First Team ahead of Tuesday’s Sky Bet Championship game against Charlton Athletic.

Bunn did welcome back Development Squad captain William Boyle to the fold after his recent loan spell at League 2 York City, whilst fellow defender Fraser Horsfall was deployed in a holding role within the usual midfield diamond. Bunn also handed a first Under-21 start of the season to second year scholar Jack Boyle behind the front two of Charles and Pyke.

The Tricky Trees came into the game as one of only two sides to defeat Bunn’s Development Squad this season, although Town later avenged that loss with a 1-0 victory over Forest in the U21 Premier League Cup.

Highlights of today’s game will appear on HTTV on Tuesday!
