HOGG RULED OUT FOR EIGHT WEEKS

2 March 2016

Midfielder has a sprained MCL ligament

- Update given on Jonathan Hogg's injury
- Midfielder ruled out for provisional 8 weeks
- Comments from Head Coach David Wagner

Huddersfield Town midfielder Jonathan Hogg has been provisionally ruled out for eight weeks through injury.

The 27 year-old injured his left knee in the second half of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game at home to Ipswich Town, stretching to make a tackle in the centre circle.

A subsequent scan on Monday has revealed that the Blue & White Foundation’s February 2016 Player of the Month has sprained the MCL on the inside of his knee.

Provisionally, this injury is expected to keep Jonathan sidelined for up to eight weeks.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“We are all disappointed for Jonathan, as he has been playing excellently in our midfield since coming into the team in December.

“The news of his injury is what we expected after the game, so he will now wear a knee brace and start work with our medical department.

“Jon is an excellent professional who works very hard, so I know he will do everything he can to get back fit and healthy. We look forward to his return.

“Injuries are part of the game. They are not something you like to happen to your team, but you have to accept and handle them. We will find solutions to replace ‘Hoggy’ and will give him all the time and support he needs.”
