Development Squad member joins National League side
- Huddersfield Town's Jake Charles loaned to Guiseley
- Attacker's initial stay runs until 29 August
- Comments from Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn
Huddersfield Town’s 19 year-old attacker Jake Charles has today joined Vanarama National League club Guiseley on a Youth Loan until Saturday 29 August inclusive.
Jake, an Academy graduate starting his second year as a professional, plays as a central striker or off either flank and has been capped by Wales up to Under-19 level.
He made his professional debut as a late substitute in Town’s Sky Bet Championship game at home to Fulham in March 2015. He scored six goals in just seven starts and three substitute appearances for Frankie Bunn’s Under-21 side last season in a year hindered by injury.
Guiseley, managed by former Bradford City centre back Mark Bower, gained promotion to the Vanarama National League – the top tier outside the Football League last season.
Chris Powell’s First Team
beat the Lions 3-1 in the opening pre-season friendly of the summer; a game in which Jake played 45 minutes.
Huddersfield Town’s Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn explained:
“We all believe that a loan spell is an important next step in Jake’s development as a footballer and this move to Guiseley gives him that opportunity at a good standard.
“We will monitor Jake very closely during his time there and hope to see him make a real impression on their team.”
