- Bennett made 74 appearances for the Terriers

Academy Goalkeeping Coach Ian Bennett has left Huddersfield Town and is set to become Nottingham Forest’s new Under-21 Goalkeeping Coach.

Bennett initially joined ‘The Yorkshire Club’ as a goalkeeper in June 2010 and went onto make 74 appearances over four years as the Terriers gained promotion to the Sky Bet Championship; including starts in both legs of the Play-Off semi-final win over Milton Keynes Dons.

Subsequently, upon his retirement from playing, Ian was appointed as Lead Academy Goalkeeping Coach in May 2014, working with Academy Manager Mark Lillis and Town’s Head of Goalkeeping Nick Colgan.

Ian said:

“The five years I have spent at Huddersfield Town as a player, and more recently a coach, have been brilliant. I have had the pleasure of working with a fantastic set of people and the friendships formed over the years have made this a very difficult decision.

“I would like to wish Huddersfield Town every success and thank everyone at the Club for their support over the years.”

Huddersfield Town Academy Manager Mark Lillis added:

“We’re all sad to see Ian leave us, as he has taken to his new off the field role as we knew he would and has made a big contribution during his 12 months working with our young goalkeepers under Nick Colgan.

“Ian is a popular figure with everyone at the Club and we’d like to wish him all the best for the future.”
