Bunn previews Town’s Boxing Day clash
As years go, 2014 has been a good one for Town attacker Harry Bunn.
2014 will soon come to an end; a year in which Harry admitted he has probably exceeded his own expectations by breaking into – and establishing himself – in the team. However, Bunn knows that he cannot let complacency slip in to his game and must continue to push on.
He explained: “It’s been a great few months for me and I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Club. I always believed that I could break into the First Team, but I’m delighted with how I’ve done since the start of the season and hopefully that can continue.”
“I love playing for the Manager because of the style of play he has brought to the Club. As you can see, ‘Scanz’ and I are really enjoying our football. I grew up as a striker so goal-scoring is something that I’ve always had in my game and now, as a wide player, getting to double figures this season is something I would like to do.”
After a recent spell on the sidelines due to a thigh injury, Bunn made his return last weekend at home in a 1-0 loss at the hands of Birmingham City.
He continued: “Obviously it was pleasing to get back out there but, we were disappointed with the result as we felt it was a game that we should have won.
“It was especially frustrating in the first half as they (Birmingham) didn’t really let us create much, but then in the second half they came out the blocks more. I feel Birmingham came with a game plan and I think, to be fair to them, they executed it well.”
Part of that game plan was to double up on Bunn and fellow winger Sean Scannell – a testament to the danger they pose to opponents.
Harry continued: “It’s a nice compliment that you see teams doing that, but obviously me and ‘Scanz’ have got to get past players and try to create chances for the other lads.
“Obviously as a player you’re always looking to improve, so I have to look at changing my game to adapt. I think it’s dependent on the match. It is definitely a massive part of being a player that you can find more than one way of doing things.”
On Town’s Boxing Day opponents Rotherham United, Harry commented:
“They came up last season and they’ll be quite a physical team, but they have players who can play too; it should be an interesting game. However, I think we are more than capable of getting the win.
“Obviously you’ve got to keep an eye over your shoulder to see who’s behind you (in the league) but all the lads are looking above and ahead to the next game. Everyone knows that if you get a few wins under your belt then you can climb quite quickly up the league, so we’re not concerned.”
