FLO BOJAJ SIGNS CONTRACT EXTENSION

29 October 2015

Striker extends his stay at 'The Yorkshire Club'

- Flo Bojaj signs contract extension at Huddersfield Town
- Striker staying until summer of 2017
- Reaction from Chris Powell & Frankie Bunn

Flo Bojaj has today signed a contract extension at Huddersfield Town.

The 19 year-old striker has put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2017, at which point Huddersfield Town can extend for a further season.

Flo has recently hit the headlines thanks to an assist on his professional debut, when he appeared as a late substitute in the 2-0 Sky Bet Championship home win over MK Dons.

That was soon followed by his second appearance, when he played seven minutes as a sub in last Saturday’s fixture at home to Derby County.

Huddersfield Town Manager Chris Powell commented:

“Flo recently got his opportunity to impress at First Team level due to James Vaughan’s suspension. The Sky Bet Championship is a tough division and players have to be able to cope with the level, so Flo did well to impress.

“It’s important now that everyone keeps their feet on the floor, Flo included. He has shown promise at Under-21 level and in his two senior appearances, but he needs to continue to work hard and improve under Frankie Bunn’s coaching so he can be ready to take his next opportunity if called upon in the future.”

Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn added:

“Flo deserves his extended contract, which was actually being worked on before he made his debut for the First Team last week due to the performances he’s put in for the Development Squad this season.

“Flo has improved greatly during his two and a half years at the Club. He’s a hard worker on the training pitch and has improved his fitness and footballing ability. He’s a clever footballer who brings his teammates into play, plus – importantly for a striker – he knows where to be to score goals.

“We’ll continue to work with him so he improves even further, but it’s great that he has already made such a good impression with the Club and its fans in his couple of First Team appearances. Everyone knows that the Club wants and needs young players come through into the first team and Flo’s recent foray has given a boost to him and his Under-21 teammates.”

Bojaj, who was born in Kosovo and moved to the UK with his parents at a very young age, is currently in his second year as a professional.

He joined the Huddersfield Town Academy on the eve of the 2013/14 season after a successful three week trial period from Hertfordshire side Borehamwood Youth.

An Albania Under-17 international, Bojaj formed a prolific partnership with Jake Charles as Town’s Under-18 side won the U18 Professional Development League 2 title in his first season at the Club.

Having been handed a first professional contract in the summer of 2014, Flo scored eight goals in 24 starts and a further eight substitute appearances for the Development Squad as it reached the U21 Professional Development League Final in May; a 3-2 loss to host Swansea City, despite his brace.

That form earned him a contract extension in the closed season that was due to run until the conclusion of the current 2015/16 campaign.
