Huddersfield Town’s 2015/16 Sky Bet Championship fixtures will be released at 9am on Wednesday, so to get you in the mood htafc.com has looked back to five of the most enjoyable opening days!

The first game of the season is always one of the first dates that supporters look to when the fixtures are released and Chris Powell’s men will want to replicate the success of these five games from the Club’s past.

Huddersfield Town’s fixtures will be released first and exclusively on htafc.com on the day, followed by reaction from the Club.

Coverage will also appear across Town’s social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.

The 2015/16 season will commence on Saturday 8 August 2015, followed by the First Round of the Capital One Cup a few days later.

Here are five of the Club’s best opening day results throughout the years:

2010/11
Notts County 0-3 Huddersfield Town
Meadow Lane
League 1

After missing out in the Play-Off semi-finals the previous season, the Terriers went into the new League 1 campaign full of optimism – and the players didn’t let them down on the opening day!

A superb brace from Anthony Pilkington and typical poacher’s goal from Jordan Rhodes gave Lee Clark’s side a comprehensive opening day win at Notts County.

Despite the win, Town’s form was a little patchy throughout the opening stages of the season, but the start of the 43 game regular season unbeaten run – still a Football League record – resulted in a place at the Play-Off Final, when Peterborough United prevailed at Old Trafford.

1994/95
Blackpool 1-4 Huddersfield Town
Bloomfield Road
Division 2

A season that will live long in the memory started in the right manner, with thousands of Town fans watching braces from Paul Reid and Ronnie Jepson seal an impressive opening day win played in a terrific atmosphere.

That win formed part of a first third of the season that was the Club’s best in 15 years and eventually ended in Neil Warnock’s side gaining promotion thanks to the terrific 2-1 Play-Off Final win over Bristol Rovers at Wembley.

1979/80
Huddersfield Town 2-0 Aldershot
Leeds Road
Division Four

Goals from Ian Robins and Peter Hart gave Mick Buxton’s men a great start in a season that resulted in the Terriers winning the Division Four title in memorable fashion.

Striker Robins’ goal was one of 25 that earned him the division’s Golden Boot award, with the win one of a club record 16 on home soil throughout the campaign.

The goals were just two of a club record 101 scored that season, with a whopping 61 coming at Leeds Road.

1959/60
Ipswich Town 1-4 Huddersfield Town
Portman Road
Division Two

A season that ended with Town’s best league finish since relegation from the top flight some three seasons earlier started in the right way with an impressive win at Ipswich.

Managed by the legendary Bill Shankly, the Terriers knocked four past the Tractor Boys thanks to goals from winger Bob Ledger, left half Gordon Low and a brace from forward Derek Hawksworth.

The win was one of three to start the season, which ended with Shankly at Liverpool and Town in sixth.

1924/25
Newcastle United 1-3 Huddersfield Town
St. James’ Park
Division One

Goals from the legendary George Brown, Charlie Wilson and Clem Stephenson gave Town a great win in the North East to set Herbert Chapman’s side on the way to the second of the iconic Thrice Championships in the twenties.

The win was one of four to start the campaign, with Chapman’s men not tasting defeat until the 11th match.

Town’s away record was particularly impressive this season. The team only tasted defeat twice on the road and five times in total; both are still club records.
