U21s & U18s IN ACTION ON TUESDAY

Under-18s play Chelsea in FA Youth Cup

Huddersfield Town’s U18s and U21s travel away to face testing opponents as they pursue a place in the next round of the respective Cup competitions on Tuesday.

Town’s Under-18s travel to Aldershot on Tuesday evening to face Chelsea’s U18s in the FA Youth Cup Fourth Round in a game that will be broadcast live on Chelsea TV.

Tony Carss’ youngsters surpassed fellow Londoners Crystal Palace in the last round of the competition thanks to strikes from Jack Boyle and Rekeil Pyke at The John Smith’s Stadium.

However, the reigning FA Youth Cup holders and Category 1 Academy will be a tough opponent come 7.05pm on Tuesday; they currently sit in pole position of the Barclays U18 Premier League table.

The winners of this tie will play host to either Swansea City or Doncaster Rovers in the next round of the youth competition – and a win for the young Terriers would be a fourth consecutive victory in all competitions.

Entrance to the game at Aldershot’s ESS Stadium is priced at £3 adults and £1 concessions.

Ahead of travelling south on Monday lunchtime, Carss told htafc.com

“Chelsea’s U18 side is probably the best in the country; they’re a team full of internationals, the current holders of the FA Youth Cup and they’re flying in their league.

“It’s a great game for our lads to challenge themselves. We’ve got a lot of good players in our team that we believe will go on and have really good careers, so they can go toe-to-toe with Chelsea on Tuesday night and see how they fare.

“Everyone is looking forward to the game. We want to give a good account of ourselves and perform like we have done time and time again. We have some fiercely competitive individuals and we want to progress in the competition; we’ve prepared really well and that will give us the best possible chance of doing that.

“The players have to believe they can progress. They’ve found ways to win games all this season; we’ve lost just three of 17 competitive fixtures so far, which is down to the team’s mentality and organisation. We’ll need all of that to come together on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Town’s U21s meet Rotherham United U21s at Roundwood Pavillion (S62 6LA) in the Final Third Development League; 1pm kick-off.

Frankie Bunn’s Development Squad has been in fine form in this Cup competition and are still unbeaten after two games.

A win over Mansfield Town and a draw against Doncaster Rovers has given Bunn’s side four points from a possible six in this round robin Cup competition, which has no age restrictions.

The U21 game is free to enter for any Town fans that would like to go.
