HTAFC SUPPORTS #HANDSOFFHRI CAMPAIGN

Comment from the Chairman

- Plan could see Huddersfield lose its A&E Department
- Comments from Chairman Dean Hoyle

Huddersfield Town has today backed the campaign to save the Accident & Emergency Department at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Plans which could see Huddersfield lose its A&E department have sparked huge opposition across the town with more than 40,000 people already joining a Facebook page dedicated to saving the service.

Hospital bosses have confirmed the plan to switch full A&E provision to Calderdale Royal Hospital is part of a bigger scheme that would see the existing Royal Infirmary in Acre Street demolished and a new hospital built across the road on the Acre Mills site that would include operating theatres and wards but not a full A&E unit.

Head Coach David Wagner and the Chairman are pictured above holding the Huddersfield Daily Examiner’s #HandsOffHRI poster.

At Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game against Cardiff City, Town’s players will warm up in special t-shirts publicising the campaign alongside other planned promotional activities.

Huddersfield Town’s Chairman Dean Hoyle commented:

“I believe this is a decision that needs to be looked at very closely by those in charge and I’d urge everyone to sign the online petition, which needs 100,000 signatures for the issue to be considered for debate in Parliament.”
