Head Coach David Wagner and Assistant Head Coach Christoph Buehler have reaffirmed their commitment to Huddersfield Town after signing new contracts at the Club.

The German pair have made a huge impact on the Club since arriving to take charge of First Team affairs in November 2015, introducing a ‘full throttle’ style of football and bringing about a big change of culture behind the scenes.

The positivity Wagner’s appointment has brought to the Club, combined with a discounted price of £179 for adults, is expected to lead to over 15,000 Season Cards being sold for the upcoming 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship campaign; the highest number since the Centenary season of 2008/09.

David has wasted no time in starting his preparations for next season, with his knowledge of European markets adding to the scope of Town’s recruitment. Alongside the completion of Rajiv van La Parra’s permanent move from Wolves and the capture of promising Oldham Athletic goalkeeper Joel Coleman, Wagner has also brought in Dynamo Dresden’s promotion-winning captain Michael Hefele, 1. FC Kaiserslautern full back Chris Loewe and Croatian midfielder Ivan Paurevic from Russian side FC Ufa.

Now Wagner and Buehler have recommitted their futures to the Club by putting pen to paper on new contracts, the terms of which will remain undisclosed.

Huddersfield Town Chairman Dean Hoyle explained:

“We appointed David and Christoph in November because we felt a step change in culture was needed to take the Club to the next level in the Sky Bet Championship.

“After their first six months here, I think everyone connected with Huddersfield Town – staff and fans alike – will tell you that process has begun.

“David is a superb operator and has used his experience of working at top European side Borussia Dortmund to improve our Club in many areas, not least in terms of style on the pitch.

“The impact David’s had has allowed us to make leaps forward in other areas of the Club too, including player recruitment, staff and facilities.

“We’ve only just started the process of improving the Club, but I sense the level of excitement amongst our fans is unparalleled since I became Chairman. David – and Christoph – have played a huge role in that.

“That excitement carries to the people at the Club, myself included. We’re realistic in what we can achieve in the short term, but I’m so happy that David and Christoph wasted no time in showing their commitment to what we want to do here in the long term.”

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“I’m very happy to have been able to sign a new contract at Huddersfield Town.

“The way that the Club, its people and the fans have accepted me and Christoph since the first day we arrived in Huddersfield has been unbelievable. I’d like to thank our Chairman Dean Hoyle and our fantastic fans for their trust, help and support.

“I knew that this Club was one that wanted to embrace new ideas, but I now understand how different our ideas have been! That has made the reaction of everyone here truly special.

“We have lots of exciting plans to improve Huddersfield Town further and it is perfect for me that Dean and the Board are in total agreement. This relationship and trust between the Head Coach and the people in charge is not normal. Together with Dean, the Board and Stuart Webber, we will push the Club forward in all areas on and off the pitch.

“Christoph and I are both excited about the possibilities at Huddersfield. We are still realistic and humble about the Championship challenge, but on the other side confident and ambitious enough to make the next steps on the journey we started six months ago.

“I will give the Club, players, staff and myself no limits and can't wait to start the next season. I promise that Christoph and I will work as hard as we can in the future to help every single player and the Club to improve to the highest level they can achieve."
