TOWN'S KANE SCORES FOR IRELAND U19s

10 October 2015

18 year-old defender captains his country

- Huddersfield Town's Danny Kane scores for Ireland U19s
- Defender nets equaliser against Ukraine
- Kane captains his country on his second U19 cap

Huddersfield Town defender Danny Kane scored his first goal for the Republic of Ireland Under-19 side in an international friendly against Ukraine on Saturday evening.

The centre back, who joined Town’s Academy from Irish club Cherry Orchard in February 2013, captained his country in Limerick and netted an unstoppable shot from 12 yards out in the 89th minute to give his country a share of the spoils in the 1-1 draw.

This was only Danny's second cap at Under-19 level and he'll be hoping to earn a third when the two sides meet again on Monday.

These friendlies come ahead of the start of Ireland's 2016 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying campaign, which begins in November. The Irish are in Group A alongside Scotland, Slovenia and Latvia.

This international summons is the latest in a line of recognition by Ireland for Danny, who was named Ireland’s Under-17 Player of the Year in March 2015.

Town's next home game against MK Dons is only £10 entry at the gate for adults!
