DEFENDER KANE MAKES IRELAND U18 DEBUT

2 June 2015

Town youngster plays in friendly win

Huddersfield Town’s young defender Danny Kane earned his first Republic of Ireland Under-18 cap in a 1-0 international friendly win in Luxembourg this evening.

As reported by fai.ie, Danny setup a goal in the 28th minute of the game in Hobscheid, but it was unfortunately ruled out for offside. Despite this, the away side scored the only goal of the game in the 56th minute and Danny played the full 90, helping his side keep a clean sheet.

Head Coach Paul Doolin’s side play a second friendly in Luxembourg on 4 June; 6pm kick-off UK time in Schifflange.

Danny, now 18 years-old, is the current Republic’s Under-17 Player of the Year; click HERE for info.

The central defender made 14 appearances for Town’s Professional Development League 2 North winning Under-18 side during 2014/15, as well as four appearances for Frankie Bunn’s Under-21s.

Danny, who joined the Terriers from Irish side Cherry Orchard in February 2013, has already signed a professional contract with the Club and will become a full time member of the Development Squad during the 2015/16 campaign.
