Young Terriers clinch northern title

Town’s Under-18 side retained the Professional Development League 2 North title thanks to a 3-2 win over visitors Crewe Alexandra at PPG Canalside on Saturday morning.

The young Terriers surpassed previous league leaders Nottingham Forest courtesy of the three points and will now go into the end of season Play-Offs, where they will face the runners up from the southern section.

Tony Carss’ side took the lead on the stroke of half-time through captain Regan Booty before doubling their advantage five minutes into the second-half thanks to a fantastic 25 yard effort from Jack Boyle.

Substitute Ronan Coughlan put Town three goals ahead by converting a 74th minute penalty after he had been felled and although the Railwaymen gave Town an almighty scare with two late goals, the Terriers saw the game out.
