The summer recruit from Liverpool has been a virtual ever-present in Chris Powell’s team and is determined to help the Terriers continue the recent momentum, starting with Saturday’s game against Derby County.

“Finishing the season on a high is massive for us. We’ve set ourselves the goal of going unbeaten for the rest of the campaign, because we want to go into next year with momentum after a good run,” Conor told htafc.com.

“I don’t think any of the lads are thinking about their summer plans at the minute; we’re focussed on getting positive results. Hopefully we can do that for the supporters, because they’ve been fantastic all season; they don’t half get behind us everyone. That’s helped us gain some good results at the John Smith’s. It’s important we give them something to look forward to for next season.”

The promotion-chasing Rams are the highest-placed team that Town face in the remainder of the campaign; a challenge that Coady is relishing.

“We’ve got three tough games left, but we’re looking forward to them. Derby on Saturday is arguably the toughest; they are a top side, fighting to get into the Premier League. 

“We’ve had some good performances against the better team, particularly at home. We’ll go into the match knowing what they are about and how to play. We’ll look to impose our game on them and come away with the result.” 

Conor believes Town’s attacking threat can be a problem for any opponent, praising the likes of Jacob Butterfield’s importance to the team:

“He’s a top player. We knew when he came in that he’s a real handful for teams to contend with and when we get him on the ball high up the pitch, things can happen. He’s been fantastic for us this season and hopefully he can be even better next year. 

“We’ve got some good creative players, as you’ve seen recently. That’s without Harry Bunn playing too, who has been fantastic for us. As a team that likes to go forward, you need players who can do that for you. On their day, our three strikers (Nahki Wells, James Vaughan and Ishmael Miller) can hurt any team in the Championship.” 

It’s been a successful first campaign at Sky Bet Championship level for the 21 year-old, who explained that his move to West Yorkshire has been just what the doctor ordered:

“It’s very tough; a big step up compared to League 1, where I played last season. I knew that would be the case. 

“It’s been fantastic for me though; I really needed this move. I’ve come to a top club in Huddersfield Town and have loved every second of it. 

“The Manager came in and has been fantastic with me, explaining exactly what he wants from me; he’s helped me out massively. I’ve played quite a bit, which I’m made up with, so long may that continue. I just want to help the team as much as possible by putting in good performances. 

“We’ve got a very young side here and we’re enthusiastic about continuing to push on. We’ve done ok this season, but we want to really kick-on and be better next year. We want to show people what we’re about.”
