REPORT: CHARLTON 1-1 TOWN U21s

Flo Bojaj goal gives young Terriers a point

- Flo Bojaj scores in U21 draw at Charlton Athletic
- Game ends 1-1 at the Valley
- Highlights on HTTV on Tuesday

A ninth goal of the Under-21 season for striker Flo Bojaj gave Town’s Development Squad a share of the spoils in a 1-1 Professional Development League 2 draw at Charlton Athletic on Monday.

With Sheffield United winning at Millwall earlier in the afternoon, the Terriers drop two points behind in second place - but still have three games in hand over the Blades.

Charlton, leaders of the PDL2 South table by eight points coming into the game, haven’t lost at home all season, but it was Albanian teenager Bojaj who gave the Terriers the lead at the Valley in the 58th minute.

However, Charlton’s own teenage striker Karlan Ahearne-Grant netted a free kick around 10 minutes later and the game finished all level, just as it did when the sides met in the Premier League Cup last month.

The Addicks side included highly-rated teenage striker Ademola Lookman, whereas Bunn was without the services of winger Jake Charles, who is on Wales Under-21 duty.

The goalless first half was subject to a long delay after an assistant referee went down with a groin injury in the 19th minute. Fortunately a member of the crowd was a qualified referee and quickly got changed before the game recommenced!

Both sides went close in the opening 45, with Town’s best chance falling to Duane Holmes after the half hour; the midfielder saw his strike saved well by home goalkeeper Jordan Beeney from just 10 yards out.

At the other end, overage stopper Lloyd Allinson made good saves from Ahearne-Grant and Josh Umerah.

Bojaj did net in the 58th minute, firing home from the edge of the Charlton penalty area after good build-up play down Town’s right hand side for his ninth of the season.

Town skipper Joe Wilkinson fired wide from 10 yards out shortly afterwards following a corner, but Charlton then equalised in the 69th minute when Ahearne-Grant dispatched a free kick from around 25 yards out.

Highlights of the game will appear on HTTV on Tuesday!
