Striker Cedwyn Scott nets hat-trick

- Jamie Spencer & Jack Boyle also score

Town’s Under-18 side bounced back from the midweek FA Youth Cup exit at Chelsea with a resounding home victory over Bolton Wanderers at PPG Canalside on Saturday morning.

Tony Carss’ young Terriers defeated the visitors 5-1 in the latest Professional Development League 2 North game of the season thanks largely to a first Town hat-trick at any level from striker Cedwyn Scott (pictured above).

A flurry of goals just after the half hour mark put the Terriers in a commanding lead. The first came through first year scholar Cedwyn Scott on the 32 minute mark before Captain Jamie Spencer continued his recent prolific scoring streak with another barely three minutes later.

Right on the stroke of half time, striker Scott grabbed his second of the game to send Town in three goals to the good at the interval.

The striker from the North East got the chance to complete his hat-trick just nine minutes into the second period after being brought down in the area and made no mistake, stepping up to dispatch the resulting penalty.

Top scorer Jack Boyle made it 5-0 just before the hour mark before a trio of regulars were replaced, with Carss handing experience to Under-16 duo Sam Gibson and Dominic Tear as well as first year scholar Alfie Raw.

Bolton pulled a goal back in the 71st minute through Alexander Samizedeh, but the goal-scorer was immediately shown a red card in the aftermath following an altercation with Town ‘keeper Owen Brooke.

Highlights of this game will appear on HTTV on Monday.

Town’s team (4-2-3-1):
Owen Brooke; Harry Clibbens (Sam Gibson, 60), Jordan Williams, Callum Elliott, Adam Porritt; Sam Warde, Jamie Spencer (c); Luca Colville, Jack Boyle (Dominic Tear, 59), Lewis O’Brien; Cedwyn Scott (Alfie Raw, 68)
