REPORT: BIRMINGHAM 0-1 TOWN U18s

12 April 2016

Win takes the Play-Off race to the final day

- Town U18s beat Birmingham City
- Striker Cedwyn Scott scores in 1-0 win
- Race for PDL2 Play-Offs still alive

A single goal win over Birmingham City has kept the Town Under-18s’ hopes of being in the end of season Professional Development League 2 Play-Offs alive this afternoon.

Striker Cedwyn Scott netted the only goal of the game, which was held at the FA’s St. George’s Park facility in Burton, and the win elevates Tony Carss’ side to third in the northern table; level on points with Sheffield United in the second Play-Off place.

The Terriers play their final game of the regular season at home to Coventry City on Saturday, whilst the Blades host Hull City.

As things stand Sheffield United sits above the Terriers on goal difference (+23 as opposed to Town’s +21).

Technically Crewe could also finish second in the table; the Alex are also level on 56 points, but have already played the full 30 games and holds an inferior goal difference. Both Town and Sheffield United would have to lose heavily this weekend for that to happen.

Town’s win today was sealed in the 67th minute, with first year scholar Scott (pictured above) following up to score after Captain Jack Boyle’s initial shot had been saved.

Highlights of the game will appear on HTTV on Wednesday.

Town’s team (4-2-3-1):
Ryan Schofield; Mason O’Malley, Rarmani Edmonds-Green, Jordan Williams, Sam Gibson; Olly Dyson, Sam Warde; Luca Colville, Jack Boyle (c), Dom Tear; Cedwyn Scott

Unused subs:
Callum Elliott, Alfie Raw, Adam Edgar
