Boyle nets brace in the Midlands

Town’s Under-18s recorded a victory at Birmingham City’s Wast Hills training ground on Wednesday afternoon courtesy of a brace from first year Academy scholar Jack Boyle.

The teenage attacker (pictured above) scored a late goal in each half to give Tony Carss’ side the win. Boyle’s first, netted in the 45th minute, was a free-kick and his 83rd minute strike that sealed the result was setup by top scorer Rekeil Pyke.

That’s now nine goals in the Under-18 season for Boyle, who has only started 18 games due to an early season injury.

The clean sheet was Town’s second in succession, following on from the 3-0 win at Millwall on 28 March.

Callum Charlton, who is on trial from Brighouse Town, also appeared in his second game from the bench.

Highlights from the game will appear on Town’s YouTube channel – www.youtube.com/officialhtafc - on Thursday.

The young Terriers go into Saturday’s game against Ipswich Town (11.30am kick-off at PPG Canalside) with a chance to secure a place in the end of season Professional Development League Play-Offs.

Currently sitting second, Town has a game in hand over leaders Nottingham Forest with a game in hand and sit six points above third placed Coventry City with two games to spare. The top two sides go into the Play-Offs against their equivalents from the southern section.

Town’s team (4-4-2 diamond):
Tadhg Ryan; Jack Senior, Fraser Horsfall, Danny Kane, Nathaniel Pells; Regan Booty (c), Jamie Spencer, Adam Porritt (Callum Charlton, 78), Jack Boyle (Brad Carroll, 88); Liam Coogans, Rekeil Pyke

Unused subs:
Sam Guthrie, Dylan Cogill, Jacob Hanson
