BIG GAME AT BIRMINGHAM FOR U18s

7 April 2015

Match in the Midlands on Wednesday afternoon

Town’s Under-18 side travels to Birmingham City on Wednesday 8 April 2015 in a crucial game as Tony Carss’ youngsters look to secure one of the top two spots in the Professional Development League 2 North.

The top two sides in the division progress to the end of season Play-Offs against their southern equivalents and with third placed Coventry City kicking off earlier in the day, the Terriers could possibly secure their spot on the day.

Should Coventry fail to win at Barnsley in its 11.30am start, a victory for the young Terriers would be enough to secure a top two position with two games left to spare.

The young Terriers will go into the game with confidence following their 3-0 victory away at Millwall in their last league match. Goals from Jamie Spencer, Jack Boyle and Rekeil Pyke earned them the win.

Carss’ side still sit second in the North Professional Development League 2 behind Nottingham Forest; currently four points behind the leaders but with two games in hand.

One of the sides challenging Town and Nottingham Forest for those top spots is Wednesday’s host Birmingham City, who sit in third. They are just five points behind Town in the league table having collected 38 points from 23 games this season, although just fifteen of those points have come at home.

The young Blues’ will go into the game after losing 1-0 away at Charlton. However, before that they won three games on the bounce including an impressive 4-1 home win against Sheffield Wednesday.

When the two sides met earlier this season Town earned a hard-fought victory, beating them 2-1. A Jack Boyle free-kick won the game for Tony Carss side, after Liam Coogans put the young Terriers ahead early on.

The game will kick-off at 2pm at Birmingham City’s Wast Hills Training Ground (300 Redhill Road, Kings Norton, B38 9EJ).
