The Tykes, who are managed by former Yeovil Town and Bristol City midfielder Lee Johnson, finished 11th in the 2014/15 League 1 table.
The two sides last met in the 2013/14 Championship season. Barnsley won the game at Oakwell 2-1, with James Vaughan’s goal nothing more than a consolation after opening strikes from forwards Chris O’Grady and Marcus Pedersen, but the Terriers got revenge in May 2014 – beating the visitors 5-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium thanks to strikes from Keith Southern, Danny Ward, Adam Hammill, Adam Clayton and Sean Scannell.
