Information on what to expect on Saturday
Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship match at home to Derby County will be Huddersfield Town’s annual ‘Academy Game’.
The game will be used to showcase and highlight the work that is going on at the Club’s Academy, which is based at PPG Canalside.
As per previous years, next season’s scholars – the players who will begin their two year scholarships in 2015/16 season – will be revealed during the half-time interval. Click HERE for info on which players will turn professional.
Some of Town’s promising younger footballers will also take centre stage during the interval, with the Under-10 group showcasing their skills on the John Smith’s Stadium pitch.
Town’s official match day magazine, Give Us An H, will also be packed with information about the Academy, with a two page feature on the latest developments and comments from the key figures.
The Club will also give its Under-9s group a special taste of just what it’s like to play for the First Team through a visit to the dressing rooms ahead of the game and with a lap of the pitch pre-match.
Ahead of the 3pm kick-off against the Rams, Town’s Under-18 side will host Crewe Alexandra at PPG Canalside in an 11.30am kick-off. A win would secure the Professional Development League 2 title – come down and get behind the next generation!
Town’s Under-15s will take up flag bearing duties around the pitch too!
As always, the Golden Gamble draw will take place during the half-time interval; a particularly pertinent fact at the annual Academy game.
Together with the Blue & White Foundation and the weekly ‘On the Move’ lottery draw, the support that fans give the Golden Gamble through buying their £1 ticket on match day provides vital funds to the Huddersfield Town Academy.
There will be a superb £1,000 first prize on offer along with the rollover prize. This season’s Golden Gamble winnings have now surpassed a staggering £30,000 after the last home game against Ipswich Town – all going to lucky Town fans on match days!
All the remaining money goes straight to funding the Academy and to mark Saturday’s game, Golden Gamble sellers will wear special t-shirts; look out for them around the ground!
