GROUP OF TOWN FANS SUPPORT ‘KEEP IT UP’

3 December 2014

Sean Doyle to lap the John Smith’s Stadium

Town fan Sean Doyle, along with 14 of his friends and family, will be taking on a fundraising challenge with a difference when they run 50 laps of the John Smith’s Stadium pitch in aid of the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign!

Sean, aged 47 from Brockholes, is no stranger to running after completing four marathons in the past 10 years. However, four weeks after the Blackpool marathon in 2013, Sean suffered a double heart attack just before a run around Greenhead Park.

After 36 hours in a coma and two hours on the same machine which saved the life of footballer Fabrice Muamba, Sean made an amazing recovery. He is now fully fit and runs up to 35 miles per week.

Sean and his group will run 50 laps of the pitch prior to Town’s game against Watford on Saturday 10 January 2015 to raise funds for the Club’s ‘Keep It Up’ campaign.

Sean commented:

“I have chosen to support the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign because, through my experience, I know first-hand the excellent work done by the emergency services and so helping towards the Yorkshire Air Ambulance could help someone else in a similar position to myself in the future.

“Secondly, I am a lifelong Town fan, having grown up in the Cowshed at Leeds Road and I am relishing the experience of being able to run around the pitch at the John Smith’s Stadium, as is my 10 year-old son Oliver who is probably an even bigger fan than me!”

Sean, pictured above in his Town shirt, will be joined by his son Oliver, Simon Brass, Emma Spencer, Diane Haigh Kolat, Simon Edwards, Dinah Coogan, Gary Wade, Will Valovin, Dawn Byram, Darren Earnshaw, John Philpott, Katherine Jayne Mcfadzean and Gary Graham.

Sean has already raised over £500, to sponsor him and his team, please visit HERE.

The ‘Keep It Up’ campaign raises funds for both the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity and the HTAFC Academy, with 50p in every pound donated going to each. In July 2014 the campaign hit the £1million mark. For more information please email robyn.deegan@htafc.com.
